Clean Language training

Getting out of the Way: an introduction to Clean Language for coaches

Clean Language is an approach to facilitating change that is being used by an increasing number of coaches of all kinds. Created by therapist David Grove, it places great emphasis on two things: the importance of not contaminating the client's process with your own; and the central function of metaphor in how we think and feel and make sense of our experience.

In this half-day workshop you will gain:

  • an increased understanding of assumptions and the importance of keeping your own assumptions out of the way when facilitating your clients;
  • a heightened appreciation of the place of metaphor in the way we communicate with ourselves and with others;
  • an understanding of how Clean Language approaches assumptions and how it uses metaphor; and
  • an opportunity to practice using basic Clean Language questioning in a facilitated peer supervision session.

I run the workshop in-house for organisations with internal coaching pools and for communities of networked internal coaches, as well as offering occasional open workshops.

The workshop can be extended to a full day to offer a more substantial group supervision element.
